Young Planets in Urbs Vetus
Detection, Characterisation, and Evolution at the Dawn of Comparative Demographics
16-17-18 March 2027, ORVIETO

Orvieto (Urbs Vetus in Latin, meaning old town) will be the venue of a three-day conference that aims at bringing together theorists and observers to discuss the detection, characterisation and evolution of young planetary systems. The meeting will focus on planets already formed, after the time of gas and dust disk dissipation, and younger than 1 Gyr. Particular attention will be paid to the first 100 Myr, a period during which planets undergo their most radical physical and orbital evolution, possibly leading to the formation of ‘dynamically hot’ architectures and the emergence of bound and unbound systems.
The meeting will explore the emerging demographics of young planets, connect observations with theory, and identify key benchmarks for understanding the early evolution of planetary systems.
